I just saw a “Stories” video on Facebook posted by my daughter-in-law from the rooftop of the hospital where she works in Virginia, captioned “TORNADO WARNING!” There was a massive wall of nasty clouds with lightning flashing from within, and my first thought was, “Get off the effing roof, girl!” I didn’t see anything organized or rotating from her video, and I don’t believe anything transpired aside from nasty storms, but holy crap. I’m so thankful that’s an uber-rare occurrence in these parts, where today it is beautiful, quite warm (91° which I could do without), and calm. I just wish they still lived in these parts. . .

John has struggled with his teeth since way before I met him with periodontal disease that led to the removal of many of his teeth and wearing partial dental plates. After several years of that, those aging plates have been giving him a lot of grief (having to glue some teeth back in plus a lot of difficulty chewing), so he decided to take the plunge and have implants installed for full dentures. This has been in the works for months and today was the day of quite major oral surgery. We were up before the sun to get to Olympia for his early morning appointment. I could tell he’s been nervous about this. Quietly stewing. It took a little over two hours to install the implants (that required bone grafts), and then fitting the interim dentures. After three months of healing, they’ll fit him with the permanent dentures. We were both shocked that he wasn’t anesthetized during this ordeal! Oh, he had the don’t-give-a-shit sedative cocktail and a truckload of Novocain, but he was conscious throughout and at times he said it really hurt.
He looked and felt pretty darned rough as I drove us home, and for a while after we arrived home. The Novocain lasted a good 6 hours and he really COULD NOT TALK. After a nap, he seemed much more his normal self and he said he’s “done with the gauze.” No swelling, no bruising, which is typical for him. (I’ve always said he was an alien). He even smiled and what a nice smile! Soft foods on the menu for the next few days, but I sense he’s going to be just fine and ultimately very happy he has had this done. We do have to get up at the butt-crack again tomorrow morning so I can drive him to his local dentist (who has been working in conjunction with the oral surgeon). He’s on pain meds, but I suspect not for long. (Alien)
Here are a few fun pics of Quinn playing T-ball! (His mama and daddy are coaches!)
Republicans decided it didn't matter if they had a majority of the public's support as long as they could seize a majority of the power. And that's when they abandoned democracy.
