Look at him! He’s getting so big! (And yet, he really is a little guy). The next couple of pics aren’t here at Harstine; I believe they are at Discovery Park in north Seattle.
3-1/2 now. He’ll be 4 in September. (How is that possible?!)
Nature, or at least bodies of water (but zoos and aquariums and biological science museums, too) bring out the “dance” in him.
Remember this from last summer? This one IS at Harstine, and I have it as my profile photo for Facebook because I love it so much. Best picture EVAH. Yep, he was nekked. Jazz hands!
We’re plugging along, and excited to see the kids next weekend (likely the last full get-together for quite some time).
Tomorrow will be the 15th anniversary of when my mom died. (On her 70th birthday, on Mother’s Day that year in 2006). It stuns me to think of what all she has missed since then. The iPhone (and the iPad!). (She has always loved gadgets). Obama’s presidency (she would have liked him and LOVED Michelle). Nate joining the Navy, marrying Sandra, and then having her great-grandson (she would be OVER THE MOON with this little guy!) No, I do not sense (or believe) that she is “looking down from heaven.” If such a thing was possible, we would all know, and none of us do. But a part of her (DNA, baby!) lives in this special little being.
What’s chilling to think about is that she died when she was just five years older than I am now.
I am so excited about today’s news—those of us who are vaccinated (SO MANY OF US!! THANK YOU, PRESIDENT BIDEN!!) can now live our lives without masks! I’m over the moon! We can totally imagine what life would be like if trump was still president: just look at India. And multiply it by a million. Jesus.
You know it’s the truth.
We had a WONDERFUL book club meeting with us neighborhood ladies, and it was our final “virtual” one. Our next one will be at my house in person! We hung out on Facetime for a good 3 hours, and much of that time was not talking about books (but did involve drinking wine!) Lots to catch up on! Oh, it was fun, it really was. And I’m looking forward to the next one, too, when we can see each other’s faces and enjoy normalcy.
I love maps, and I’ve always loved globes. (I had a rather cheapy one in my bedroom as a teenager and really liked that thing!) Since we’ve been here, I’ve had a hankering for a floor globe, but they tend to be very expensive, plus I’m picky. I don’t like just any floor globe (so many of them are too frou-frou, or “manly.”) There have been a very few that have caught my eye, but again, way too expensive. And THEN. I found one on sale for a do-able price, that was perfect. John and I had a discussion about it (he loves globes, too!) and so I ordered it. Jeeze, it took three weeks to get here, but it did finally get here! AND WE LOVE IT.
It’s just as perfect as I thought it would be, fitting in our house. Almost like it’s always been here. wOOt!
