These products would have come in quite handy today. JDub, the weenies, and I spent the day at H*ars*tine working our butts off. (Well, except for the weenies). It was, quite honestly, a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day! We had taken his mom out for dinner yesterday, and next weekend we'll take my mom out for dinner to celebrate both Mother's Day and her birthday. So today we stoked up yet another bonfire, hauled what seemed to be TONS of brush and debris, chain-sawed what seemed like thousands of cords of firewood, and lopped mountains of hideous scotch broom. God I hate that stuff. It was pleasurable to see/hear it snap-crackle-pop on the bonfire. The land is definitely on its way to becoming de-yellowed. (Wasn't it Lady Bird JDubson's idea to plant this godawful crap everywhere, thinking that it would beautify the nation's roadsides? Was she smoking crack?)
The tide was very low today -- if not the lowest of the season. We took a nice walk with the weenies, and the silly little drama-queen long-haired Bailey decided it would be way fun to tromp in the MUD. You could hear the mud SUCKING at her stubby little legs as she hydroplaned through it. Needless to say, her entire underside was thickly coated with briney gooey low-tide mud, so JDub took her "wading" in the Sound. Hmmm. She certainly didn't think that was quite as much fun as frolicking in the mud.
When we came home, tired and filthy and aching, I was greeted with this beautiful white cyclamen from my son. (Why didn't Lady Bird consider these?)
It was truly a perfect Mother's Day.
