A safe harbor, a place to enjoy the view.....
I am a Washington State native with webbed feet, and I can't imagine living anywhere else. There are wet and dreary days that seem to go on forever when I would like to VISIT other places, but I would always want to come home to Washington. I briefly lived in Maine quite a while ago, and there is no way I could ever be a Maniac. (No offense to native Maniacs). It's just too butt cold there. And the summers are humid and buggy. Ick.
I'm fifty-something (!), married to John, and the mom of a young adult son (Nate) who is serving in the U.S. Navy. I miss him a whole bunch.
For over 25 years I worked in the field of A/E/C (Architectural/Engineering/Construction) marketing. I'm pretty good at it, but I really don't enjoy it, and I was laid off the summer of 2009. It's a ruthless, ungratifying, disrespected, and killer-stressful field with it's impossible deadlines and the reliance on arrogant engineers to provide technical input (it's a constant fight). I'm thinking about doing something else entirely. Or winning the lottery...
My husband and I adore dachshunds (weenie dogs), and we get pretty silly over the two we have (Peanut and Bailey — "the girls"). We have a "tuxedo" cat named Mojo who has six toes on each paw and he is the most amazing mouser in the whole wide world, and I mean it. Killer Mojo. With a very lovable side toward his humans. (I'm so very glad we aren't mice). We are also into kayaking and we love hunting for agates at Camano Island where my dad lives — and where I spent all my childhood weekends and summer vacations — and also Harstine Island where we own a one-acre plot of paradise we eventually plan to retire to (can't wait!) Check out our background on Harstine under "Pages" at the top of the right side-bar — About Harstine Island.
I'm a book worm. I love reading novels, and I generally read a couple per week, sometimes more! (I have a Kindle and I love it! Check them out on Amazon.com — they are expensive, but if you are an avid reader it will be totally worth it). I also really enjoy doing stained glass, writing poetry (have had several published!), and someday I would like to write a novel! (While overlooking Peale Passage and the Olympic Mountains from Harstine Island?)
